Our Home Critics are crucial to our testing process, which means we are as picky about choosing our Home Critics as we are about our homes! Hired for their expertise in design, hospitality and luxury travel, they are trained rigorously in our Science behind the Perfect Stay.
WE ASSESS THE HOST
We evaluate the host’s hospitality capabilities and their ability to make great local recommendations for things to do and places to see in their local area. We also share the 7 Plum Service Standards to ensure we are aligned and share the same vision for what makes great guest experiences.
WE TEST METICULOUSLY – FROM THE SHOWER PRESSURE TO THE WIFI SPEEDS
Our Home Critics perform an in-depth 2 hour test to score each home against the Plum standards. We consider ‘soft’ criteria like sociability and design character, as well as ‘hard’ criteria like the shower pressure and the strength of the WiFi speeds. We collect detailed information – over 500 data points on every home – that we know matter to our guests… the height of shower head; the pillow type; the size of the mattress and so much more.
WE DECIDE IS IT PLUM… OR FAIL?
Every week, our in-house Selection Committee reviews the reports from every home test and debates which homes should be added to the Plum collection. Hosts who don’t make the cut are given detailed feedback. Just 1 in 100 meets our standards and is awarded official Plum Guide certification.
